Duell on mobile: browser, apps and what to watch out for
Most play now happens on phones. That makes it easy to play more than planned, and it makes it important to know where an app or page comes from. This guide covers the difference between the browser and an app, and why installing gambling apps outside the official stores needs extra care.
Browser or app?
Most online casinos run in a mobile browser without downloading anything. Whether Duell also offers an app, and for which platforms, is stated on the operator's site. The browser has advantages: you install no software from an unknown source, and a bookmark is easier to delete than an app that sends notifications.
APK files on Android
Some casinos offer their Android app as an APK file downloaded directly from their site, outside Google Play. Installing it means allowing apps from unknown sources, which also opens the door to malware. We do not link to APK files. If you install one anyway, make sure it comes from the operator's own site, switch the unknown-sources permission off again afterwards, and give the app as few permissions as possible.
iPhone and iPad
On iOS, apps are normally installed from the App Store. If a site asks you to install a configuration profile or certificate to unlock a gambling app, decline — such profiles can give third parties insight into and control over your device. The browser is the safer choice.
Desktop and laptop
On a computer you will usually play in the browser. Do not install programs that promise "better access" or a way around blocks. A block in your country is a legal signal, not a technical problem to solve — more on that under mirror sites and blocking.
Go to the offerNotifications and screen time
An app with notifications can push offers into your day. Turn off notifications from gambling apps and use your phone's built-in screen-time controls to set a limit. Blocking software such as Gamban can block gambling apps and sites on both phone and computer — see limits and self-exclusion.
Checklist before you install anything
- Does the app or file come from the operator's own site or an official store?
- Does it ask for permissions it does not need, such as contacts or SMS?
- Have you turned off notifications and set a time limit?
- Do you know how to delete it again?
